 Hardy Invertebrates!

Despite the cooler temperatures, I've been finding critters in sheltered areas, away from the wind on sunny days. This Coppery Leafhopper was a first for me! Well camouflaged on the coppery fall leaf!

A tiny member of the March Flies had iridescent wings. Found at Henderson C.A,.

Spied this little insect when it flew in front of my face and landed nearby!
I love the long legs!

This Giant Leopard Moth larva was a surprise find. We never would have seen it if we hadn't stopped in the middle of nowhere because Deryl forgot to use the "little boys room" before getting into the car!

Much of Saturday was spent at the Pinery and North Lambton. Shortly after our arrival, a Red-Tailed Hawk flew to a branch above our heads. It was one of 5 that we saw at the Provincial Park! We were extremely fortunate with the weather for the final day of October on our 9+ kilometre walk!

Time was also spent at Ipperwash Beach where we found
3 Sanderlings. They are generally a very approachable bird!

Sanderling tracks in the sand.

A very cool find was a snake skeleton found on the road. The poor thing had been run over. This may be the first time I have found an actual skeleton, not just the shed skin!

A Jack-o-lantern carved into the dune bank greeted us, very fitting for Halloween Day!
