Some Things from this Week.

A Red-tailed Hawk had some balance issues when it landed on
this branch. It had been hunting unsuccessfully in the underbrush.

This black-phase member of the Grey Squirrel family
was busy collecting insulation for its winter nest.

I was disappointed to see the squirrel entering a hole that has been occupied by an Eastern Screech Owl in past years. Too many squirrels in the park makes for tough competition in securing nesting cavities and I'm afraid the small owls are often the losers.
A pair of Carolina Wrens sang loudly in the forest. Had they
been quiet, we probably would have walked right past them.

Deryl spotted a Ring-necked Pheasant roaming in rural Lambton County.

I was intrigued by the texture in this icicle hanging from the Nature Centre roof at work.
