 A Nice Start to October!

Warblers continue to migrate through the area, including this little ball of sunshine, a Common Yellowthroat!
An Asteroid Moth larva needs to be on the lookout for hungry predators. This fellow isn't well camouflaged.

A couple of Wooly Bear Caterpillars (which will become Tiger Moths) have recently crossed my path. Although Folklore has led people to believe this caterpillar can predict the winter's severity, the length of the coloured band is dependent upon its age, feeding habits and species. There are around 260 species of Tiger Moths in North America!

An Eastern Comma rests on a trail doing an excellent impersonation of a leaf!!

Many Large Milkweed Bugs were soaking up the sun on a milk weed pod. Large Milkweed Bugs will over winter in this adult stage.

A Green Sweat Bee has chosen a soft resting spot on the milkweed fluff!

A three-some of Snow Geese have been seen the past few days at Hiawatha - 2 of them are Blue Morphs.
