 A Spider and Her Prey.

I had just noticed this Banded Garden Spider when....

a Crane Fly became snagged in her web.

It took only a few moments before she had completely wrapped the unsuspecting
prey with her silk. In the above 2 photos, silk is shooting out of her spinnerets!
She turned the fly over and over as she continued the wrapping process.

The "resident" Canatara Park Great Egret  continues to hang around. Finding food has not become an issue yet. I'm sure it won't be long before he heads south!

When we headed out for a morning walk, Deryl wondered when we would start seeing owls again and Saturday was the day! The Grey Screech Owl was attempting to soak up some sunshine! A few weeks back, we had a red-phase Screech Owl in our backyard at dusk.
Henderson Conservation Area on Friday - The calm before the storm. Lots of beautiful fall colours locally!
