 Reflections on Canada Day:

Kennebec Trails, Frontenac County

On our first full day of travelling to the eastern part of the province, we stopped at Kennebec Wilderness Trails.

This 156 acre property has 7 kilometres of trails winding through a mixed forest with valley meadows, wooded hillsides and rocky ridges. The terrain is rugged and undulating in many areas providing opportunities for a diversity of life. Some of the insects we found include:

Calico Pennant
The Halloween Pennant and its cousin the Calico Pennant were in abundance on the trails.

Little Glassywing
Monarch Caterpillar
Striped Hairstreak
Northern Cloudywing on a vein of quartz.
Perhaps it was lapping up minerals from the rock.
