Birds on the Wing:

5 Sandhill Cranes flew silently over the Howard-Watson Trail in Sarnia on Tuesday. They were headed south-west - still waiting for the ice to thaw up north.

We made a visit to North Lambton to see the Tundra Swans on Wednesday. Very windy conditions meant the swans were directionally challenged in the air.

Canada Geese were also doing some fancy flying in the winds!

After viewing the Swans and Geese, we drove to 'L' Lake at Port Franks where we saw hundreds of Blackbirds flying from tree top to tree top. Red-winged Blackbirds, Grackles, Cowbirds, Starlings and at least one Rusty Blackbird were all in the mix!

More Blackbirds at 'L' Lake in the sunset.

Our next stop was on Highway 21 near Northville. A few more
Canada Geese flew past the increasingly colourful sky.

Wood Ducks were in the air trying to find a location to settle for the night.

A distant Short-eared Owl flew past us earlier in the week.

As far as the doves in our backyard are concerned, Spring is definitely in the air!
