 An Icy Start to Winter!

Deryl photographed the icy Michigan Trader as it exited Lake Huron and headed into the St. Clair River.

A "Pilot boat" can be seen passing the U.S. Coast Guard. I grew up believing that airplanes were the only modes of transportation with pilots, but the narrow waters under the Bluewater Bridges require large freighters to be navigated by experienced pilots.

The extreme west end of Canatara Beach.

Ice forming on the Sarnia Bay provided a resting spot for gulls, including several Great Black-backed Gulls!

And then an Eagle cruised overhead and disturbed them!
They returned to the ice about 10 minutes later.

Back on Lake Huron, large flocks of Redheads and other ducks have been gathering.

Lots of ice "build up" along the Lake Huron shoreline.
